In implementation of the directives of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Haider Bahaa Al-Hassani, and the President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Alaa Abdulhassan Atiyah, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Fine Arts, Professor Dr. Mudhad Al-Asadi, the College of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad dedicated the first hour of the official working day to commemorating the martyrdom of Lady Fatimah Al-Zahra (peace be upon her), recalling her noble life, virtues, merit, and her scholarly and humanitarian status.

The event witnessed a strong artistic and cultural presence that reflected the academic community’s engagement with this occasion through a collection of artworks created by the College’s students. These works varied between painting and graphic design, drawing inspiration from the life of Lady Al-Zahra (peace be upon her) and the values of knowledge, virtue, and generosity that she embodied, as well as the profound place she holds in both Islamic and human consciousness.

The presented works demonstrated the capacity of art to express religious occasions and evoke their spiritual and cultural meanings through a visual language that combines creative sensibility with a humanitarian message. They also affirmed the role of academic arts institutions in channeling students’ energies and talents to express authentic values and promote cultural and intellectual awareness.

The event was attended by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Hazem Al-Harbi; the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Rajaa Saadi Lafta; the Head of the Department of Cinema and Television, Professor Dr. Shatha Al-Amili; and the Head of the Department of Fine Arts, Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Hindawi.

This initiative comes within the framework of the College of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad’s commitment to reinforcing spiritual and humanitarian values within the university environment and providing students with the opportunity to present their artistic and creative visions in expressing occasions that carry religious and cultural dimensions, thereby strengthening the role of art as a means of connecting with society and recalling its symbols and values.
