Department of Design<\/p>\n

The Department of Design is one of the most important departments in the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Baghdad. It is the first design department to be established in Iraqi universities. The department was initially established under the Department of Visual Arts at \u201cAcademy\u201d of Fine Arts. The first majoring group of students was enrolled in the 1972-1973 academic year. The two major groups are graphic\u00a0 and industrial design.<\/p>\n

The Design Department was established independently in the academic year of 1982 – 1983 and it\u2019s been operating until now. It continues to develop and as such began to address other disciplines that are added to the department. The cognitive, scientific, and applied diversity clarifies each branch of the department through the following scientific disciplines: Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Textile Design,\u00a0Interior Design<\/p>\n

The most important goals that the design department seeks to achieve are\u00a0Preparing majoring designers in the fields of design (graphic, industrial, textile and interior design).<\/p>\n

the talent and skill of the designer through training and practicing so the student qualifies to work in public or private sector institutions.
\n\u2022 Motivate and assist the students to study and learn technical techniques and train them on the equipment, machinery, and raw materials that the designer needs in his field of work after graduating as a designer.<\/p>\n

Vision<\/strong>
\nThe scientific department works with continuous efforts to urge and train students to show the Iraqi identity and privacy in the design.
\nTrying to reach advanced curricula that keep pace with the great development in international design methods and techniques, and develop curricula with the ladder of global development, especially computer programs related to design, and train students on them and know their skills.<\/p>\n

Objectives<\/strong>
\n1- Preparing designers specialized in the fields of graphic, interior, textile and industrial design.
\n2- Stimulating the personal talent and skill of the designer through training and practice according to his specialization so that he gives the fruit of his effort and studies to public or private sector institutions.
\n3- Motivating and assisting students to learn technical techniques and training them on the equipment, machinery and raw materials needed by the designer in his work after graduating as a designer.
\n4- Seeking to present students\u2019 graduation projects to official institutions in order to benefit from them in various specializations, especially those related to industrial products, printing presses and textile factories, as well as the interior designs of modern official institutions, and to benefit from them instead of relying on ready-made and foreign designs in particular.<\/p>\n
